Compress a video online

Make a video small enough to email, send on WhatsApp or Discord, or upload where there’s a size limit — without it looking blocky. The video is re-encoded with H.264, which keeps quality high for its size and plays on every phone, browser and computer.

How to compress a video

  1. Add a video, or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Choose the Compression: Light for the best quality, Balanced, or Strong for the smallest file.
  3. For bigger savings, choose a lower Resolution — 1080p, 720p or 480p (only sizes smaller than your video are offered).
  4. Press Compress video; the result shows how much smaller it is. Download the MP4.

Tips for small files

  • Resolution saves the most: a 4K or 1080p phone video usually looks fine at 720p on a phone, at a fraction of the size.
  • Need a file under an exact limit such as 25 MB? Use Compress Video to Size.
  • Cutting unneeded parts with the Video Cutter shrinks the file too.
  • A video that’s already efficiently compressed may not get smaller — the tool tells you, so you can keep the original.

Everything is processed in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly): your video is never uploaded, and there are no watermarks.
