Add text to a video

Put a title, a caption, a credit or a call to action on a video — for social media posts, tutorials, product clips and presentations. The text is burned into the picture, so it shows on every player and platform.

How to add text to a video

  1. Add a video — MP4, MOV or WebM — or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Type your text, then choose the font, size and colour, and add an outline, a shadow or a caption bar to keep it readable.
  3. Pick Top, Middle or Bottom, or drag the text anywhere on the video.
  4. Show it the whole time or for part of the video — set the start and end, or use the current position.
  5. Use Add another text for more (up to six), then press Add text to video and download the MP4.

Good to know

  • Text size is relative to the video, so it looks the same on a phone clip and a 4K video — and the preview shows exactly what will be saved.
  • Phones and social apps put buttons and captions near the edges; keep important text a little way in.
  • The video is re-encoded as an MP4 (H.264 and AAC); the sound is kept.
  • For a logo, use Add Watermark to Video; to shorten the clip first, the Video Cutter.

Everything is processed in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly): your video is never uploaded, and there are no watermarks.
