Remove the sound from a video

Silence a video before sharing it — to drop background chatter, wind noise, or music that might trigger a copyright claim — or to prepare it for a new soundtrack.

How to mute a video

  1. Add a video — MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV — or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Press Remove the sound.
  3. Check the silent video and download it.

Good to know

  • The picture is copied without re-encoding, so the quality is identical and even large files take seconds. The file keeps its format: an MP4 stays MP4, a WebM stays WebM.
  • To make the sound quieter rather than silent, use Change Video Volume; to put music on instead, Add Audio to Video.

Everything is processed in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly): your video is never uploaded, and there are no watermarks.
