Extract the audio from a video

Save the sound of a video as an audio file: the music from a clip, a lecture or interview to listen to on the go, a podcast recorded on video, or speech to transcribe.

How to extract the audio

  1. Add a video — MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and more — or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Choose MP3 (plays everywhere), M4A (Apple devices, smaller) or WAV (uncompressed, for editing), and the quality.
  3. Press Extract, listen to the result, and download it.

Good to know

  • 192 kbit/s MP3 is plenty for music; 128 kbit/s is fine for speech and makes smaller files.
  • For FLAC, OGG or Opus, use the Audio Converter; to cut the audio into parts, the Audio Splitter.
  • Want the video without its sound instead? Use Mute Video.

Everything is processed in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly): your video is never uploaded, and there are no watermarks.
