Change the volume of a video

Some videos are too quiet to hear on a phone; others are too loud next to the rest of your clips. Boost the sound up to three times as loud, turn it down, or even it out to a standard level.

How to change video volume

  1. Add a video, or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Choose a level — 25%, 50% or 75% to turn it down; 150%, 200% or 300% to make it louder — or Even it out.
  3. Press Change volume, listen to the result, and download the MP4.

Good to know

  • Boosts are limited just below the maximum, so loud moments don’t crackle.
  • Even it out sets the video to a standard loudness (−16 LUFS, as podcasts and streaming use): quiet speech comes up without loud parts blaring.
  • The picture is copied untouched when it’s H.264 or HEVC; other videos are re-encoded as MP4.
  • To remove the sound, use Mute Video; to clean up background noise, the Audio Noise Reducer; to replace the sound, Add Audio to Video.

Everything is processed in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly): your video is never uploaded, and there are no watermarks.
