Convert a GIF to MP4
An MP4 of a GIF is usually a fraction of the size and plays smoothly everywhere — and many places want video, not GIFs: Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp status, presentations and video editors.
How to convert a GIF to MP4
- Add the GIF, or paste a direct link to one.
- Choose how many times to Play the GIF — once, or repeated up to 10 times so a short loop becomes a longer video.
- Choose what goes Behind transparent areas: white or black.
- Press Convert to MP4 and download the video.
Good to know
- The MP4 uses H.264 at a steady 30 frames per second, with no sound; each GIF frame keeps its timing.
- Videos can’t be transparent, so see-through areas get the background colour.
- To add music, use Add Audio to Video; to go the other way, Video to GIF.
