Resize an animated GIF

Make a GIF fit: smaller for a forum signature, an email or a chat, or a specific size for a website slot or an emoji.

How to resize a GIF

  1. Add the GIF, or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Pick a quick size (25%, 50%, 75%, 150% or 200%) or type the width — the height follows while Keep the shape is ticked.
  3. For an exact width and height, untick Keep the shape and choose Fit (add space), Fill (crop) or Stretch.
  4. Press Resize GIF and download it.

Good to know

  • Every frame is redrawn smoothly, and keeps its timing and transparency.
  • Halving the width makes a GIF roughly four times smaller in pixels — often the quickest way to cut the file size. For a size limit, use the GIF Compressor.
  • Enlarging can’t add detail. For pixel art, tick Sharp pixels so pixels grow as crisp squares. To cut away edges instead, use the GIF Cropper.

Your GIF never leaves your device: it is decoded and rebuilt in your browser.
