Crop an animated GIF

Cut away the edges of a GIF — remove borders, captions or empty space, zoom in on the action, or make it square for a profile picture or emoji.

How to crop a GIF

  1. Add the GIF, or paste a direct link to one.
  2. Choose a Shape — Free, 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3 or 4:5.
  3. Drag the box over the part you want and drag its corners to resize it, or type the exact position and size in pixels.
  4. Check a few frames with the slider — the subject may move — then press Crop GIF and download it.

Good to know

  • Pixels are copied exactly, and every frame keeps its timing and transparency.
  • Cropping makes the file smaller too. To change the size without cutting anything off, use the GIF Resizer; for Discord and Slack emojis, the Emoji GIF Maker.

Your GIF never leaves your device: it is decoded and rebuilt in your browser.
