How to Turn a Podcast Episode into a Video

Publish a podcast on YouTube, or share clips on Instagram and TikTok, by combining the episode audio with your cover art into an MP4. Free, in your browser.

To turn a podcast episode into a video, open Image + Audio to Video, choose your show's cover art and the episode's audio file, pick the shape β€” 16:9 Β· YouTube for full episodes, 9:16 Β· Shorts, Reels, TikTok or 1:1 Β· Square post for clips β€” and create the video. You get an MP4 that lasts exactly as long as the audio, ready to upload.

Make a full-episode video

  1. Export the episode as MP3 or WAV from your editor or podcast host.
  2. Open Image + Audio to Video.
  3. Choose the picture β€” your show's cover art, or an episode-specific design with the guest's name.
  4. Choose the episode audio.
  5. Pick 16:9 Β· YouTube, and Blurred background if your cover art is square.
  6. Create the video and download the MP4.
  7. Upload it to YouTube with a title, a description with show notes, and timestamps for each topic.

Make short clips for social media

Clips are how most people discover podcasts. For each episode, pick two or three moments of 30–60 seconds β€” a strong opinion, a funny exchange, a surprising fact.

  1. Cut each moment out of the episode with the Audio Splitter (Extract a segment, with the start and end).
  2. Make a video from the clip with 9:16 Β· Shorts, Reels, TikTok (or 1:1 Β· Square post for the Instagram feed).
  3. Add a caption or a hook at the top β€” "Why we stopped using to-do lists" β€” with Add Text to Video.
  4. Post with a link to the full episode.

Make the audio sound its best first

  • Clean up hiss and room noise with the Audio Noise Reducer; tick Even out the volume to reach the βˆ’16 LUFS loudness podcasts and YouTube expect.
  • Trim long silences at the start and end.
  • Check levels between speakers β€” a guest on a weak connection may need a boost.

Picture ideas

  • Show cover art β€” consistent and recognisable.
  • Episode artwork with the title and guest's photo β€” makes each episode distinct in YouTube search.
  • A photo from the recording session.

Pictures are scaled to at most 1920 pixels on the longer side; a 1920Γ—1080 design looks sharp on any screen.

YouTube as a podcast platform

YouTube is one of the most used podcast platforms. Full episodes there benefit from:

  • Chapters: add timestamps in the description (0:00 Intro, 4:12 Topic one…) β€” see the guide to YouTube chapters.
  • A search-friendly title β€” the YouTube Title & Description Generator can suggest options.
  • A custom thumbnail at 1280Γ—720 with large text.

Keep the same layout for every episode β€” logo in the same corner, the same fonts β€” so your videos are recognisable at a glance in subscribers' feeds.

File size and upload time

A still picture compresses to almost nothing, so the video is roughly the size of the audio β€” about 60–100 MB for an hour-long episode at typical podcast bitrates. Creating the video takes a few minutes for a long episode, all on your own device.

Privacy

The audio and picture are combined in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly); unreleased episodes stay on your device until you publish them. No watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a moving waveform?

This tool makes a still-image video. A still picture with clear episode artwork works well on YouTube, where most podcast listeners don't watch the screen.

What about video podcasts?

If you recorded video of the conversation, upload that instead β€” or use it for clips, trimmed with the Video Cutter.

Is there a length limit?

Not in the tool. YouTube needs a verified account for videos over 15 minutes.
