How to Combine Videos on iPhone (No App Needed)
Join several iPhone videos into one in Safari — pick them from Photos, set the order, choose vertical or landscape, and save the merged video back to Photos.

The iPhone's Photos app can trim a video but can't join several into one. To combine videos without installing an app, open the Video Merger in Safari, tap the upload area, choose Photo Library, select your clips, put them in order, choose 1080×1920 · vertical for portrait videos, and tap Merge. Then save the result back to Photos.
Combine videos step by step
- Open the Video Merger in Safari.
- Tap the upload area and choose Photo Library. Select all the clips you want (tap each one), then tap Add.
- Put them in order with the up and down arrows; remove any with the bin icon. Tap Add more clips if you missed one.
- Choose the Frame size:
- 1080×1920 · vertical for videos filmed upright (for Stories, Reels and TikTok).
- 1920×1080 · 16:9 for videos filmed sideways.
- Same as clip 1 to match your first clip.
- If some clips are upright and others sideways, choose Blurred background or Black bars for the ones that don't fit.
- Tap Merge, keep Safari open while it works, and preview the result.
- Tap Download, open the file from Safari's downloads, then tap Share › Save Video to put it in Photos.
Tips for iPhone
- Trim first. Phone browsers have less memory than computers. Trimming each clip in Photos (Edit, drag the yellow handles, Done) keeps the merge quick and reliable.
- Shorter is better. A handful of clips adding up to a few minutes works well. For long 4K videos, merge on a computer instead.
- Keep the screen on. Switching apps or locking the phone can pause the processing.
- Clips are scaled to Full HD. 4K clips come out at 1080p — perfect for sharing and much smaller.
Mixing upright and sideways clips
Upright (portrait) clips in a landscape video — or the other way round — are fitted inside the frame without cutting anything off. Blurred background fills the empty space with a soft copy of the clip, which looks far better than black bars on social media.
Choosing the right frame size
- All clips filmed upright? 1080×1920 · vertical — perfect for Stories, Reels and TikTok.
- All filmed sideways? 1920×1080 · 16:9 — for YouTube, a TV or a laptop screen.
- A mix, posted to Instagram's feed? 1080×1080 · square with a blurred background shows every clip well.
Whichever you choose, nothing is cropped: clips of another shape are fitted inside the frame.
Other ways on iPhone
- iMovie (free from Apple) can combine clips with transitions, titles and music: create a Movie project, select the clips and tap Create Movie. It's the better choice for a polished edit.
- Memories in Photos makes automatic slideshows from photos and videos, but you don't control the order or the length precisely.
The browser merger is quickest when you just want clips joined, in your order, without installing anything.
After combining
- Add a soundtrack with Add Audio to Video.
- Send it on WhatsApp or email — Compress Video to Size gets it under 16 MB or 25 MB.
- Cut out a bit you don't want with the Video Cutter.
