To change the page size of a PDF, open Resize PDF, add the file, choose A4 (or Letter, Legal, A3, A5, Tabloid, or a custom size in millimetres), and download. Every page is placed on the new paper size with its content scaled to fit and centred — nothing is stretched or cut off, and vector text stays perfectly sharp.

Resize a PDF step by step

  1. Open Resize PDF and add your PDF.
  2. Choose the page size: A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5, Tabloid, or Custom and type the width and height in millimetres.
  3. Choose the orientation: Auto keeps landscape pages landscape and portrait pages portrait; or force every page to Portrait or Landscape.
  4. Add a margin with the slider (up to 30 mm) if you need room for binding, hole punching, or a printer that can't print to the edge.
  5. Download the resized PDF.

Why resize a PDF?

  • Printing: pages of mixed or odd sizes print with clipped edges or strange margins. Putting everything on A4 (or Letter) prints cleanly.
  • Upload requirements: some portals and print services insist on A4 pages.
  • Mixed documents: scans, screenshots and exports combined into one PDF often have every page a different size. Resizing makes them uniform.
  • Booklets and handouts: shrink A4 pages to A5, or enlarge A5 to A4 for easier reading.
  • Posters: scale a document up to A3 or Tabloid.

Scaling, explained

Pages are scaled in proportion, so a page whose shape doesn't match the new paper gets a little white space on two sides rather than being stretched or cropped. Going from A4 to Letter, for example, adds a thin band at the top and bottom; going from Letter to A4 adds a band at the sides. See how to convert US Letter PDFs to A4 for that common case.

Because the content is scaled rather than re-drawn as an image, text and drawings stay sharp at any size. Scanned pages are images, so enlarging a small scan a lot will look soft.

Resizing images into a PDF

If your pages are photos or screenshots rather than a PDF, create the PDF at the right size from the start: Image to PDF puts each image on an A4 or Letter page.

Resize, crop or print several per page?

  • Resize — same content, different paper size.
  • Crop — remove margins or borders with Crop PDF.
  • N-up — print several pages on one sheet with N-up PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Will text become blurry?

No. Text and vector graphics are scaled, not rasterised, so they stay crisp.

Can I resize just one page?

The tool resizes every page. To resize a single page, split it out with Split PDF, resize it, and merge it back.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Resizing happens in your browser.
