The quickest free way to delete pages from a PDF is Remove PDF Pages: open your file, click the pages you want gone, and download the shorter document. You don't need Acrobat, nothing is installed, and the original file stays untouched in case you change your mind.
Delete PDF pages in three steps
- Open Remove PDF Pages and choose your PDF.
- Click the thumbnails of the pages to remove. Selected pages are marked so you can see exactly what will go.
- Apply the change and download the new PDF.
Typical pages worth deleting
- Blank pages from double-sided scanning, where every second page is empty.
- Cover sheets and fax headers that add nothing.
- Instructions pages at the end of a form you've already filled in.
- Adverts and terms pages at the end of tickets, receipts and statements.
- Duplicates, when a page was scanned twice.
- Personal pages you don't want to share — for example, the page of a statement with other accounts on it.
Deleting pages also makes a file smaller, which can be enough to get under an email or upload limit. If it's still too big, Compress PDF can help further.
Delete or extract? Choose the faster one
Removing and extracting are two sides of the same coin:
- To drop a few pages and keep most of the document, delete them here.
- To keep only a few pages from a long document, it's faster to pick those with Extract PDF Pages.
Either way, the result is a new PDF with just the pages you want.
On a phone or tablet
The tool works in Safari on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android. Tap a thumbnail to mark it for removal, then save. The new file goes to your Downloads folder, ready to share.
iPhones can also delete pages in the Files app's preview: open the PDF, show the thumbnails, touch and hold a page and choose Delete — though that changes the original file directly. Using the browser tool keeps the original as a backup.
On a Mac or a Windows PC
On a Mac, Preview can delete pages too: choose View › Thumbnails, select the pages in the sidebar, press Delete, then use File › Export as PDF to save a copy (closing the window instead saves over your original). Windows has no built-in way to remove pages — Edge and the free Acrobat Reader can't do it — so the browser tool is the simplest free option there.
What happens to the rest of the document
- The remaining pages are untouched. Text, images and fonts keep their quality; nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.
- The order stays the same. To move pages around as well, use Rearrange PDF Pages, which can also remove pages while you reorder.
- Bookmarks and internal links that pointed at deleted pages no longer lead anywhere, so check the table of contents if the document has one.
Deleting is not redacting
Removing a page takes it out of the file completely, which is a safe way to withhold whole pages. But if you need to hide part of a page — a name, an account number, a signature — deleting won't help and drawing a black box on top isn't enough either, because the text underneath can often still be copied. Use Redact PDF, which removes the hidden text for real.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a deletion?
Your original PDF isn't changed — the tool creates a new file. If you removed the wrong page, simply start again from the original.
Is there a page limit?
No fixed limit. Very long scanned documents take a little longer to show thumbnails, especially on a phone.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, which keeps confidential documents on your device.
