To turn plain text into a PDF, open the PDF Converter, choose Text to PDF (.txt, logs), paste the text into the editor, and click Execute Conversion. The text is laid out on A4 pages in a clean 11-point font, wrapped to fit the page and split across as many pages as it needs, and the PDF downloads straight away.
Convert text to PDF step by step
- Open the PDF Converter. Convert to PDF is selected.
- Click Text to PDF (.txt, logs).
- Open your .txt file in any text editor (Notepad, TextEdit, a code editor), select all, copy, and paste it into the editor box. You can also type directly.
- Click Execute Conversion. The PDF downloads as text_export.pdf.
Each page holds about 44 lines, and long lines wrap at the page width, so even a long log file or a set of notes turns into a tidy, printable document.
When a text-to-PDF converter is handy
- Logs and error reports you need to attach to a support ticket or keep as a record.
- Notes from a phone or a plain-text app that someone wants as a "proper document".
- Code snippets, configuration files and command output to print or share read-only.
- Exported chat transcripts and subtitles saved as .txt.
- Submissions to portals that accept only PDF files.
- Plain-text drafts — poems, scripts, lyrics — that you want to print or share in a format that can't be accidentally edited.
Formatting: what to expect
Plain text has no formatting, so the PDF doesn't either: everything is in one font size, with no bold, headings or images. Line breaks and blank lines from your text are kept. For a document with headings, tables and styling, write it in a word processor and use its Save as PDF — or convert an existing Word file with the Universal Document Converter.
Languages
The converter uses the standard PDF font, which covers English and Western European languages. For text in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Thai, Cyrillic and other scripts, paste it into Word, Google Docs or Pages and save as PDF from there — those apps include fonts for every script.
Other ways to convert TXT to PDF
- Windows: open the .txt file in Notepad, choose File › Print, and pick Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer.
- Mac: open it in TextEdit, then File › Export as PDF.
- Phones: open the text in a notes app and use Share › Print, then pinch outwards on the preview (iPhone) or choose Save as PDF (Android) to save it as a PDF.
The browser converter is quickest when you're on a computer that isn't yours, or when the text is in your clipboard rather than a file.
Finishing touches
- Add page numbers for long logs and transcripts with Add Page Numbers, so people can refer to "page 12".
- Combine the PDF with other documents — a cover letter, screenshots — using the PDF Merger.
- Rename the downloaded file to something descriptive, such as "server-log-2026-10-11.pdf".
Frequently asked questions
Is the text uploaded?
No. The PDF is built in your browser, so logs with internal details and personal notes stay on your device.
Is there a length limit?
There's no fixed limit; very long texts simply produce more pages. Text of a few hundred pages converts in seconds on a modern computer.
Can I change the font or margins?
Not in this tool — it's designed for quick, clean output. For custom fonts and layouts, use a word processor and save as PDF.
