To change the order of pages in a PDF, open Rearrange PDF Pages, move each page earlier or later with the arrows on its card, remove any page you don't want, and export the new PDF. It's free, it runs in your browser, and the page content isn't altered — only its position.
How to reorder PDF pages
- Open Rearrange PDF Pages and add your PDF — drop it on the box or click to choose it.
- Every page appears as a numbered card. Use the left arrow on a card to move that page earlier and the right arrow to move it later.
- Use the bin button on a card to drop a page you don't need.
- Click Compile & Export to build the reordered PDF and download it.
The original file isn't changed, so you can always start again if you get muddled.
When page order goes wrong
- Double-sided scanning: a feeder that scans all the fronts and then all the backs leaves you with pages 1, 3, 5… followed by 2, 4, 6… Rearranging puts them back in sequence.
- Merged documents: you combined several files and the appendix ended up before the report it belongs to.
- Signature pages: the signed page came back as a separate scan and was added at the end instead of its proper place.
- Presentations: a slide deck exported to PDF needs a different running order for a second audience.
Tips for long documents
Moving page 40 to position 2 one step at a time takes a while. For big moves in long documents, it's often quicker to work in chunks:
- Use Split PDF to cut the document into sections — for example pages 1-10, 11-39 and 40.
- Put the sections back together in the new order with the PDF Merger.
- Use Rearrange PDF Pages for the final fine-tuning of individual pages.
This "split and merge" approach is also how you move a whole chapter in one go.
Fixing sideways pages at the same time
Rearranging doesn't rotate pages. If the scan has pages that are sideways or upside down, run the document through Rotate PDF as well. Rotate PDF turns every page by the same amount, so for a document where only some pages are wrong, split those pages out, rotate them, and merge everything back in order.
Removing pages while you reorder
The bin button on each card removes a page from the new document. For removing many pages without changing the order, Remove PDF Pages is quicker: click all the pages to delete and save.
Is it safe for confidential documents?
Yes. The PDF is read and rebuilt inside your browser; it isn't uploaded to a server. Contracts, HR files and medical records stay on your device, and the tool keeps working on a slow connection once the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
Does reordering reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are — text stays sharp and searchable, and images aren't re-compressed.
Can I reorder pages on a phone?
Yes. The cards and arrows work by tapping in Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. On a small screen, turning the phone sideways shows more page cards at once.
What about bookmarks and links?
Links inside the document point to pages by position, so after reordering a clickable table of contents may jump to the wrong page. Check it before sending, or regenerate the PDF from the original document if the links matter.
Can I rearrange pages from two different PDFs?
Merge them first with the PDF Merger, then rearrange the combined document.
