How to Fix a Blurry Photo (Free AI and Manual Options)

Make a blurry, dull or low-quality photo clearer with AI enhancement — or sharpen it yourself for free. What works for focus blur, shake, noise and small files.

To make a blurry photo clearer, open the AI Photo Enhancer, add the photo, pick a mode — Enhancer for a natural result or Enhancer Pro for maximum clarity — and download the improved version. The AI sharpens detail, corrects light and colour, and removes noise and compression artefacts. For a free, unlimited and fully private option, Sharpen Image works in your browser with a slider.

Enhance a photo with AI

  1. Open the AI Photo Enhancer.
  2. Add the photo — JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. Choose a mode:
    • Enhancer — a balanced boost to sharpness, light and colour that keeps the photo natural.
    • Enhancer Pro — studio-quality enhancement and upscaling for the clearest result.
    • Beta — an experimental, high-impact look.
  4. Compare the Original with the result and download it.

The free plan includes 2 enhancements a day. The photo is processed by an AI model (Google Gemini) through iPixHub's server, which doesn't keep a copy.

What kind of blur do you have?

Sharpen manually (free and private)

Sharpen Image increases edge contrast so detail looks crisper. It runs in your browser, with no limit.

  • Raise the intensity gradually while watching the preview.
  • Stop before halos (light outlines) appear around edges.
  • Sharpen after resizing if you're making the photo smaller — resizing softens images slightly.

Manual sharpening works well for photos that are slightly soft; it can't rescue badly out-of-focus shots.

Realistic expectations

Software can't fully undo real blur. Where the camera captured a smear, the original detail is gone; AI makes a convincing, plausible reconstruction, but:

  • Faces may change subtly. Check that people still look like themselves.
  • Text and numbers may be invented — never rely on an enhanced image to read a number plate or a document.
  • Heavily blurred photos look artificial when pushed too far.

The best fix for blur is the next photo: hold the phone steady with both hands, tap to focus, use more light, and take several shots.

Combine the fixes in the right order

When a photo has several problems, fix them in this order: remove noise first, then enlarge if needed, then sharpen last. Sharpening a noisy photo sharpens the noise too, and sharpening before enlarging makes halos bigger.

Blurry photos of people

For portraits and group shots where faces are soft, the AI Face Enhancer concentrates on facial detail — eyes, skin, hair — which is where viewers look first.

Old printed photos

For scans of old, faded or damaged prints, Old Photo Restoration repairs scratches and revives colours, which often helps more than sharpening alone.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my phone photo blurry in the first place?

Usually camera shake in low light, the camera focusing on the background, a dirty lens, or digital zoom. Wiping the lens fixes more blurry photos than any software.

Can I enhance photos on my phone?

Yes. Both the AI Enhancer and Sharpen Image work in mobile browsers.

Is the AI enhancer free?

Yes — 2 photos per day without an account. Sharpen Image is unlimited.
